Introduction:
Our clients in Peterborough were committed to reducing their carbon footprint and lowering their energy bills. They opted for a comprehensive solar PV system to fulfill their energy needs both for now and in the future, while embracing sustainable practices. The system included 22 all black 430W Jinko solar panels with SolarEdge power optimisers, an 8kW SolarEdge inverter, a 13.5kWh GivEnergy all-in-one with a 6kW gateway, and a 7kW GivEnergy car charger, providing a holistic energy solution for their detached home.
System Design and Selection:
Solar Panels: The installation featured 22 all black 430W Jinko solar panels renowned for their high efficiency and durability. SolarEdge power optimisers were integrated with each panel to maximise energy production and mitigate shading effects.
Inverter: An 8kW SolarEdge inverter was selected to convert DC power generated by the solar panels into usable AC power for the household.
Energy Storage: A 13.5kWh GivEnergy all-in-one battery system with a 6kW gateway was incorporated to store excess energy generated during the day for use during periods of low solar production or high energy demand. This powerful system provided the perfect solution for this modern home, ensuring that the home would be unaffected by power outages thanks to this advance technology. This was crucial as the home features home automation throughout which is reliant on a secure and stable network. The GivEnergy all-in-one will ensure that should there be a local power cut, the home's electricity would switch to their new solar battery instantaneously, meaning their internet wouldn't drop out for even a millisecond.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger: The clients also opted for a 7kW GivEnergy car charger to conveniently charge their future electric vehicle with solar-generated energy, further reducing their reliance on grid power.
Installation Process:
The installation process was meticulously planned and executed to ensure optimal performance and seamless integration of all components. The steps involved were as follows:
Roof Assessment: A thorough assessment of the clients' roof was conducted to determine the best placement for the solar panels, taking into account factors such as orientation and shading.
Solar Panel Installation: The 22 all black 430W Jinko solar panels were securely mounted on the roof, with SolarEdge power optimisers installed for each panel to enhance energy production efficiency.
Inverter and Battery Setup: The 8kW SolarEdge inverter and the 13.5kWh GivEnergy all-in-one battery system with a 6kW gateway were installed within the garage. The system was configured to optimise energy flow and storage.
EV Charger Installation: The 7kW GivEnergy car charger was installed on an external wall in the driveway area of the property, providing a convenient and eco-friendly solution for charging their electric vehicle with solar energy.
Testing and Commissioning: Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure the proper functionality of the entire system.
Benefits and Results:
The installation of the comprehensive solar PV system brought numerous benefits to our clients:
Energy Independence: The combination of solar panels, energy storage, and an EV charger provided increased energy independence, reducing their reliance on grid power. The GivEnergy all-in-one's advanced technology also provides comforting reassurance that their home's electricity supply is secure even during power outages.
Financial Savings: By generating their own solar energy and utilising energy storage, the clients will see significant reductions in their electricity bills, resulting in long-term financial savings. By having a solar system installed, they can also benefit from preferential energy tariffs, as well as being able to earn money by sending any excess generated electricity back to the grid.
Environmental Impact: The solar PV system allowed our clients to reduce their carbon footprint by relying on clean and renewable energy sources for both their household electricity needs and transportation.
Future-Proofing: The system's scalability and advanced features ensured that their energy needs could be met effectively as their household requirements evolve over time.
Client feedback:
"I spoke to many solar installers, National and local to me. I wanted a company who represented and was a member of the various governing bodies of solar installers and insurance backed. I found all Optimum Electrics staff to be well informed, honest and trustworthy. Resulting in a bespoke installation based on my ideas, supported and developed by very knowledgeable Optimum Electrics staff. I recommend this company."
