Introduction:

Our clients sought to modernise their detached home in Cambridge with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. As part of a roof replacement project, they integrated a solar PV system comprising 11 Tiger-Neo solar panels, a 5kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter, and two 5.12kWh Sunsynk batteries. The in-roof installation allowed for a seamless blend with the new roof, enhancing both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the property.

System Design and Selection:

  • Solar Panels: The 11 Tiger-Neo 440W solar panels were chosen for their high efficiency and ability to integrate seamlessly into the roof, offering a sleek and modern appearance.

  • Inverter and Batteries: A 5kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter, coupled with two 5.12kWh Sunsynk batteries, was selected to manage energy conversion and storage effectively, ensuring a reliable power supply.

Installation Process:

The installation process was carefully coordinated with the roof replacement to ensure seamless integration of the solar panels. Key steps included:

  1. Roof Planning: Collaboration between the roofing and solar installation teams ensured the roof structure was prepared to accommodate the in-roof solar panels.

  2. Panel Installation: The 11 Tiger-Neo solar panels were installed directly into the roof structure, maintaining a flush and aesthetically pleasing finish.

  3. Inverter and Battery Setup: The 5kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter and batteries were installed in a utility space, and configured to optimise energy management and storage.

  4. System Testing: Comprehensive testing ensured the entire system functioned correctly. The clients received training on monitoring and managing their new solar setup.

Benefits and Results:

The installation brought multiple benefits to our clients:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: The in-roof installation provided a seamless and attractive integration, enhancing the home's modern look.

  2. Energy Efficiency: The solar PV system significantly reduced reliance on grid power, lowering energy bills and providing energy independence.

  3. Sustainability: The use of renewable energy sources reduced the home's carbon footprint, aligning with the client's commitment to environmental responsibility.
